Cobb County Senior Services - Austell Neighborhood Center
In 1972, the Marietta-Cobb Community Service was created by the Marietta Housing Authority. When the agency became a part of the Cobb County Government in 1984, its' name was changed to Cobb Senior Services.
Since its creation in 1972, Cobb Senior Services has enhanced the quality of life for thousands of Cobb County senior citizens through nutrition, education and recreation activities and programs.
A department of Cobb County Government, Senior Services is staffed by 56 full-time and 43 part-time employees, as well as 900 community volunteers. Funding comes through federal grants as well as state and county government funds.
With its progressive, conservatively managed programs, Cobb Senior Services continues to keep pace with the steady growth of our senior population, part of the “graying of America.” As a result, many of our programs are copied throughout the state and nation.
Cobb County residents age 60 and better enjoy structured group activities and programs such as music, crafts, exercise, and special events. Each weekday a hot, nutritious lunch is served in a personal, friendly atmosphere. Nutrition and health/wellness educational programs are also offered. Door-to-door transportation can be provided based on eligibility.
An assessment is conducted, and eligibility is determined based on need. Call for details.
