What We Do
Austell Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining streets, stormwater management, household garbage collection, recycling services, and providing water to residents and businesses in the city. Each of these services heavily impacts the total quality of life for our citizens, and each is significant to the balance of our City’s infrastructure.
Maintenance of our roads, streets, right-of-ways, sidewalks, and street signs is important to the safety of our citizens as well as the overall appearance of our city. While large projects such as curb to curb resurfacing, are generally completed by private contractors, the Street Division is responsible for all other related tasks.
Austell’s Water Department purchases water from the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority; a regional wholesaler that provides water to governments and large businesses in the county. City water is provided to approximately 2,900 residential and business customers who use more than 1,000,000 gallons of water each day, and at least 63% of these water customers are part of a 51 mile network within the city limits of Austell.
