What is the opt-in program?
Customers may opt-in if 1) you live within our city limits according to our property tax records OR 2) you are currently a water or sewer customer.
When can I opt-in?
Customers currently on the City of Austell’s water system can opt-in at the time you sign up for services. This is done at Austell Public Works in Threadmill Complex, Suite 105. You will need to complete and submit the Application for Household Solid Waste Collection Service form to Austell Public Works at the Threadmill Complex, Suite 105.
What is the opt-out program?
This program only applies to those customers who are within our City limits but have another means of disposing their garbage. You will need to complete and submit the Affidavit to Opt Out for Solid Waste Services form to the Austell Public Works at the Threadmill Complex, Suite 105.
When can I opt-out”?
Residents wishing to opt-out will be on a case by case basis pending approval from the Public Works Department.
I would like information on getting an additional garbage container or having one removed. Who should I call?

I own rental property and it is vacant?
If a rental property has been, or will be, vacant for more than sixty days, you will need to submit written documentation to Austell Public Works (publicworks@austellga.gov). Upon receipt, the container be picked up. Verbal requests will not be accepted. The owner, landlord, or authorized agent must submit a request in writing.
