The City Clerk is responsible for keeping an accurate record and minutes of all meetings of the City Council. The Clerk is the custodian of the city seal and is required to affix the seal to all official documents of the city and to attest the signatures of the Mayor and Council.
The City Clerk’s responsibilities include coordination and distribution of the agenda for Council Meetings, maintenance of contracts, ordinances, resolutions and agreements, and oversight of the adoption and publication of the city’s Code of Ordinances.
The City Clerk is the Election Supervisor and reporting officer for all Campaign Contribution Disclosure and Financial Disclosure Reports for candidates and public officer as required by the Ethics in Government Act and State Ethics Commission. The Clerk is the liaison between city elections and the Cobb County Board of Elections.
Open record requests, in accordance with Georgia’s Open Records Act, are made to the office of City Clerk located at 5000 Austell-Powder Springs Road, Suite 220. Austell’s City Clerk is also the Director of General Administration and Clerk of the Municipal Court.
