How can I find out how my property is zoned?

To find out how your property is zoned, contact the Community Development department at (770) 944-4309. You will need to provide the property address and parcel number for the property you are calling about.

How do I rezone or get a variance for my property?

To rezone or get a variance for your property, you must obtain the appropriate forms from the Community Development department, which includes and application and instructions for completing the application. The deadline for rezoning or variance applications is the 10th day of each month. Once your application has been received, public hearings are scheduled ebfore the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Mayor and City Council. The process generally takes between 60 and 90 days.

Where can I get a copy of the Zoning Ordinance and how much do they cost?

A copy of the current Zoning Ordinance may be obtained in person from the Community Development department located at 5000 Austell-Powder Springs Road, Suite 101. The cost is $60.00.

A copy of the current Comprehensive Plan may be purchased for $25.00

What is the procedure for getting my building plans reviewed?

To have your building plans approved, please submit five sets of plans to the Community Development department located at 5000 Austell-Powder Springs Road, Suite 101. You will need to allow up to five days for review. All building plans must be approved before a building permit can be issued.
