The Sanitary Sewer Division is responsible for the maintenance and repair of over 51 miles of sanitary sewers, more than 700 manholes, and two sanitary sewer pump stations. Service is both preventive and corrective. Approximately one million gallons of wastewater are carried through the sanitary sewer lines each day for treatment at a wastewater facility.
Maintenance activities consist of flushing and cleaning sewer lines by hydraulic pressure cleaning, mechanical rodding, and root sawing.
Closed circuit video inspection and dye/smoke testing are used to respond to complaints from citizens, identify inflow and infiltration, and to inspect new construction. Another part of the Sanitary Sewer Division's activities include surveillance and analysis, such as flow monitoring, sampling, and environmental inspections.
