Lodemia Evelyn Smith was born November 2, 1926 in Waco, Georgia. Like Mr. Terrell, her family started out as share croppers, and she was only able to complete the 8th grade. However, she valued education and later received her GED.
After marriage, they had four children, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. They both came from big families - Mrs. Terrell had three sisters and one brother, and Mr. Terrell had two brothers and two sisters, providing them a multitude of nieces and nephews. They always loved getting together with family for camping at Lake Allatoona, or cookouts and softball games in their huge backyard. Their home and garden were bonding places where love grew. The fruits and vegetables were always freely given to friends and family.
Mrs.Terrell was a hard worker and expected nothing less from those around her. She was a person of very simple needs and always felt blessed for the things she had. In addition to gardening, she loved sewing and cooking and was able to utilize those skills when she worked in the Austell School cafeteria, and later at Lamar's Clothing Store making alterations. She enjoyed serving her community by volunteering at CAMP and as a member of the Lion's Club.
The City of Austell & all who knew her will continue to hold Mrs. Terrell close to our hearts..
