Recycling is contracted through WastePro and is optional beginning October 1, 2019 for residents of the City of Austell. Following is a list of items that WastePro will collect: plastics, junk mail, telephone books, catalogs, magazines, cardboard (must be no larger than two feet by two feet) and cereal boxes without inside liners.
Questions or complaints regarding your recycling service should be directed to Austell Public Works department at 770.944.4325 Option 4 or Publicworks@Austellga.gov.
Recycling is collected on every other Friday; the week depending on your zone. Your 65-gallon cart must be out at the curbside no later than 6:30 AM for collection. If a holiday falls on your scheduled collection day, then recycling is normally picked up the following work day. (Garbage and Recycling Day Schedule)
To begin your recycling service, contact the Austell Public Works at
(770) 944-4325, option 4, and a recycling bin will be delivered.
Following is a list of what can and cannot be accepted.
Glass Containers
No glass containers of any kind are accepted.
Aluminum Metal Cans
Acceptable
(Cans should be rinsed, but labels can remain.)

Paper Products
Acceptable
- Brochures
- Catalogs
- Cereal / Other Boxes
- Colored Office Paper
- Corrugated Cardboard
- Magazines
- Telephone Books
- White Office Paper
- Junk Mail
Not Acceptable
- Food Contaminated Paper
- Paper Towels
- Tissue Paper
- Newspaper
Corrugated cardboard must be broken down to less than 24 inches in size.
Plastic Products
Acceptable
- #1 - #7 clear and colored plastics
Not Acceptable
- Antifreeze Bottles
- Bleach Bottles
- Motor Oil Containers
- Plastic Wrap
- Plastic Bags
- Styrofoam
- #3 through #7 plastics
Remove all plastic lids and rings (lids on bottles and containers of
six-pack rings). Clear and colored containers are acceptable.
