Parks and Recreation

The Austell Parks and Recreation Department is charged with maintaining its park facilities.

The provision of adequate opportunities to participate in a broad range of leisure activities is an essential ingredient of life in an urban area such as Austell. Outlets for organized sports, places where one can simply relax and open space that adds definition to the urban environment are each important components of such a system. In rapidly growing, densely populated urban areas, preserving space for leisure activities has become increasingly important. Local governments continually face a challenge to provide and maintain a recreational system meeting the demands of its users. Austell has developed a park system that balances programmed and federal parks available for use by Austell residents in the region.

City Parks

The City Park system contains seven (7) recreational facilities and one (1) passive park (Berry Park). Three are community parks (Collar Park, Legion Park, and Louise Suggs Park), and four are neighborhood parks (Berry Park, George E. Beavers Park, Pine Street Park, and Stephens Park) and our Community Garden.

The City's 91-acre park system offers a variety of activities to meet the needs of Austell's citizens.

Amenities

Basketball courts are located at George E. Beavers Park and Pine Street Park.
Baseball and softball enthusiasts are accommodated on three (3) lighted ball fields. At Legion Park, the City has named the three ball fields after outstanding citizens: Brannon, Causey, and Thompson Fields.
For individual and family recreation, playgrounds are located at Collar Park, George E. Beavers Park, Pine Street, and Stephens Park.
Picnic areas are located at the George E. Beavers Park, Legion Park, Pine Street Park, and Stephens Park.
